An EVP session where a Spencer Rifle from the Civil War was read in my home. During the reading, I captured several interesting voices, but one was extremely clear on my Sony digital recorder.
I was asking questions with the Spencer rifle in my hands and was surprised when I got a response to asking if there was a body brought back on a wagon. I got the name "Averett" in response to the question.

Second recording of same EVP. The voice in this says "Averett" in response to a question as to who the owner of the weapon (A civil war era Spencer repeating rifle) was. A look at Civil War names revealed a lot of Averett's in Georgia and perhaps this might be a good place to start with this weapon's history. A lot of work went into playing this voice back again and again to finally pick out the name.
