Bryant Cemetery (229)
Bryant Cemetery
Bryant Cemetery is located off of South Shingle Road in Latrobe and is a little over one acre in size. The cemetery was probably founded in 1848. Unfortunately, there are no markers from this period. The earliest marked headstone reads 1855. Before Highway 50 was built this was part of the main road from Sacramento to Placerville. There were several road houses in this area for people to stop and rest. The historical Bryant House and Brandon Station were nearby. The ranching community that grew up around these road houses has used the Bryant Cemetery for the final resting place of their families.
The cemetery is no longer active and has been open for pre-needs only since 1994. It contains approximately 208 marked graves (full and cremated) and 299 unknown graves found with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The cemetery provides plots for ground burials for full body and cremations

El Dorado County Cemetery Administration (243)
The County of El Dorado oversees the maintenance and operation of 16 cemeteries [tabs above]. However, there are over 100 cemeteries in the county. Most of these are old pioneer cemeteries that have long since been closed to public burial. There are also several privately operated, fraternal and church cemeteries available for interments. -
Pioneer Graves (241)
Welcome to my Pioneer Graves site. This is a collection of photos I've taken over the years in the old, sometimes neglected cemeteries of the Western U.S. mining towns. Most are from the gold towns in California along Highway 49, but there are also many from the deserts, Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, and a few other states.
