Myself and K. Gilligan investigated the Shingle Springs cemetery this evening (10/18/08) and took along a Sony ICD-P520 recorder and a Sony 60 GB digital video camera with infrared enhancement attachment.

The goal was to investigate the cemetery at sundown to evaluate the quality of EVPs captured in the evening against the extraordinary capture during the daylight hours in the early part of October 2008.

Upon arriving, we immediately set about recording EVPs, starting with William Palmer, the gentleman we believe so kindly spoke to myself on the first investigation of the cemetery. Later analysis showed no answer from the several minutes of EVP work done with his tomb. We set about moving through the entire cemetery to see if we could capture recordings as we worked our way through the cemetery perimeter.

At around 40 minutes into the investigation, I turned and noted that I saw a human-form shadow pass from my left to right on the top of the hill facing to the southwest. The sighting lasted no more than 2 to 3 seconds, but was distinct and it crossed in front of headstones and also behind a pine tree and then was seen no more. The evening investigation yielded two EVPs from the cemetery. One was an odd mix of voices and odd beeping noises that was inexplicable and impossible to understand as I placed the recorder on a broken headstone that resided close to the place where I had seen the shadow only minutes before.

I then conducted a video sweep and handed the recorder over to the other investigator and he simply carried it for about sixteen minutes as we conducted the sweep and then concluded the investigation. A voice appeared in the background that was neither his or mine and it sounded like a woman speaking.

These EVPs were clipped and place into the media gallery folder for this investigation.

The video analysis is still taking place. We used an enhanced infrared addition for the video and it worked nicely, but we need to finish this evidence analysis and see what we have. More to come soon if that evidence pans out.

We later ran a series of short pre-investigations of spots in a circular arc around our base of operations. The Diamond Springs jail house was quickly investigated with no EVPs recorded. Similarly, Green Valley road was hit and there was nothing picked up there at Mulberry and Green Valley. We wanted to check for potential haunts in terms of ghostly horses picked up in the area.

A quick sweep of two other spots for later investigation in Shingle Springs and Cameron park were done and recorded for the case file and we called it a night.

Our conclusion is that the Shingle Springs cemetery continues to produce EVPs on a regular basis. We cannot use the personal evidence noted. The EVPs provide interesting continuity in that the site continues to be providing evidence on three out of three investigations to date.

We will continue to do periodic investigations, comparing day to night investigations to see what works best and will report our results here. As these are learning missions, we are fine tuning our process and will begin attaching case note files in a standard format as PDF for a more standardized approach in the near future.

Jon.
